In July 2007, CVC funds acquired DYWIDAG-Systems International (DSI). DSI, headquartered near Munich, Germany, is the global market leader in the area of post-tensioning and geotechnical systems for applications in the construction and mining industries.
The company’s products are mainly used to strengthen concrete, stabilise slopes and provide strata control for tunnels and mines. The level of technical sophistication varies by product category, but most of DSI’s products are highly safety-relevant, require certification by relevant authorities and represent a negligible to low percentage of overall project costs (usually 1-3% of the total).
In addition, DSI has a leading position in the concrete accessories business in France and growing accessories activities in a number of other regions. In 2007, the company generated sales of €661 million and EBITA of €85 million.
