In June 2005, CVC Funds acquired a stake in Betafence. The company primarily produces wire-based fencing systems (e.g. gates, panels, welded fences), supplying systems to the industrial security, gardening and farming segments.

Betafence is the only pan-European multi-segment player with core markets Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and the UK, complemented by a growing emerging market exposure. The main distribution channels are via wholesalers and fence erectors. Betafence is also the leading European manufacturer of industrial meshing for various industrial purposes. The company is headquartered in Belgium and has 12 production sites in 11 countries, employing some 1,800 members of staff.

Betafence was an attractive investment opportunity given its leading market positions in Western Europe and excellent growth opportunities driven by further expansion into Eastern Europe and the Middle East and the growing global need for increased security measures. Our strategy is to build the group both organically and through acquisitions.

Betafence remains the only pan-European leader in perimeter protection and control and continues to focus on the roll-out of its total solution offering to new geographic markets.
