In October 2007, CVC Asia Pacific, in partnership with the founding families of Nien Made, completed the tender offer for Nien Made on the Taiwan Stock Exchange. This transaction represented the second largest public-to-private private equity deal in Taiwan.
Nien Made is the world's number one interior shutter manufacturer and the world’s number four blinds manufacturer. It was founded in Taiwan in 1974 and listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1993. Nien Made’s main market is situated in the US (around 74% of sales) and its manufacturing facilities are located in Dongguan and Shandong, China, where it currently has four plants employing over 6,300 people.
Nien Made’s shutters are sold under the ‘Norman Shutters’ brand, which is the leading window shutter brand known for its high quality and value for money in North America, UK, Australia and Europe. Nien Made also sells DIY and cut-to-size blinds (PVC, wood, faux wood, etc.) and cellular shades to big-box retailers in North America for their private label programmes.
The Nien family leads an excellent management team that has built Nien Made into the industry’s lowest cost producer. CVC believes that we can add value by bringing in professional managers to enhance the team’s expertise and by diversifying the company’s sales in the US, Europe and Japan through the use of CVC’s global network.
Nien Made has become a significantly leaner and stronger company during the global recession and we are now well placed for a market recovery.
