In May 2000, CVC Funds and Gilde Investments completed the acquisition of Armstrong Insulation Products (subsequently renamed Armacell) from the US group Armstrong World Industries (‘AWI’). As the global leader in engineered foams, the company provides specialty insulation solutions for a wide range of industries.

Armacell developed Armaflex®, the world’s foremost trademark in flexible foam insulation, and, today with around 2,500 staff, has become a major supplier of pre-insulated pipes and thermoplastic insulation products for automotive, industrial, sports, leisure, packaging and a wide range of custom applications.

The company’s headquarters are located in Munster, Germany, with 20 manufacturing facilities in 13 countries, including China, Australia, North and South America. Today, Armacell is in a unique position to service market requirements worldwide. In January 2007, CVC fund realised its investment and sold the company was sold to Investcorp.
