In 1998, CVC Funds acquired Dorna from Banesto. Dorna is a Spanish-based sports management and marketing company that has owned the commercial and TV rights to the FIM Motorcycle Road Racing World Championship (MotoGP) since 1992.

Established in 1988, the company today has offices in Barcelona, London, Tokyo, with its headquarters in Madrid. The company also undertakes the management, marketing and distribution of other motorsports properties, such as the Spanish Road Racing Championship (CEV). MotoGP is the oldest motorsport world championship which has been running for over 60 years.

Dorna has provided a vast range of products: advertising, promotional and corporate activities, merchandising, commercial rights, overseas freight, TV production, timing systems, data processing and video streaming. Dorna currently employs around 150 members of staff, as well as an additional 200 part-time professionals with expertise in advertising, media and IT. In 2006, CVC sold Dorna to Bridgepoint Capital.
