In March 1999, CVC Funds acquired the general fiction and non-fiction publisher Veen. The subsequent add-on acquisition of Bosch & Keuning, a listed general and educational book publisher, resulted in the combined entity of Veen Bosch & Keuning.
The new company has had a diversified portfolio of leading trade and education publishing houses, supplemented by the well-known Dutch dictionaries of de Dikke van Dale. The company has produced books for primary, secondary and higher education, used in over 9,000 primary and secondary schools in the Netherlands.
In February 2005, Veen Bosch & Keuning was sold to the Noordelijke Dagblad Combinatie (NDC).
