In December 1999, CVC Funds acquired Acordis from Akzo Nobel. Acordis was formed in the early 1990s by combining the fibre businesses of Akzo Nobel and Courtaulds. Acordis is comprised of many independent businesses supplying man-made fibres to the automotive, textiles, construction, tobacco, chemicals and medical industries.
Since 1999, a number of businesses have been sold. Today five businesses remain, all of which are stand-alone companies with independent management teams and industrial advisors.
