In September, CVC staff members, James Redmayne and Jane Howard, organised a highly successful football tournament at the London Soccerdome for charity partner, Street League. The turnout was better than expected with 27 teams taking part and more than 250 people attending the event which raised over £45,000.
The proceeds of the tournament benefitted Street League which runs structured football and education programmes aimed at young people currently not in employment, education or training. These programmes have been very effective at getting young people engaged in productive activities and consequently reducing crime and substance abuse. Based in London, but operating in Glasgow and the North East as well, Street League plans to grow to 12 locations in Britain by 2014. CVC is delighted to be able to help Street League achieve its goals though sponsoring the first-ever Challenge Victory Cup (www.streetleague.co.uk).
Congratulations to Royal Bank of Scotland who were winners of the Challenge Victory Cup, with CVC Rovers winning the Plate competition. The prizes were presented by former Manchester United and England defender, Gary Pallister.
