From Nordic trailblazer to global leader

A transformational journey, from Nordic trailblazer to global leader

Etraveli Group was founded in Sweden in 2000, with a mission to offer the best possible flight content through its own consumer brands like Gotogate, Mytrip and Flightnetwork and via partnerships with Google Flights, Skyscanner, Kayak, Booking.com and others. It employs over 1,000 people in Europe, North America and Asia.

By 2017, Etraveli had established an innovative reputation and proven track record through its proprietary technology platform. CVC saw the potential for a partnership that would take the Group to a leadership position in a dynamic and fast-growing marketplace.

Working closely with Etraveli's strong management team, CVC enabled the company to transform itself into a truly global platform. This included:

  • Leveraging the strength of its existing brands to build the business organically.
  • Accelerating growth through selective acquisitions.
  • Optimising its data-driven approach to control increased volumes of reservations and visitors.

Steering a steady and positive path through COVID disruption

The global travel market was one of the hardest hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, but management worked hard to continue to develop its operations and relationships and the business demonstrated strong resilience – doubling its market share, extending its lead in the value chain and firmly positioned at the centre of change in the travel industry.

In 2021, in a highly complementary transaction to help create a frictionless global flights offering, CVC entered into an agreement to sell Etraveli to Booking Holdings, for approximately €1.63 billion.
