The Alfonso X el Sabio University (UAX) has teamed up with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and the Montemadrid Foundation to fund projects by non-profit organisations on the social consequences arising from the COVID-19 emergency.
UAX against Covid-19
Drawing on its health education resources, the university has donated more than 200,000 gloves, masks and gowns, as well as key equipment like 26 hospital beds and four respiratory machines. Additionally, they launched an initiative to produce and distribute over 30,000 masks every day across Spain. During the most critical weeks, UAX shared its online platform and call centre to help train volunteers and, through a government mandate, its final-year medicine and nursing students joined the front line with most of UAX health teachers.
