Covering a range of life and non-life insurance products, Ethniki is one of the market leading and longest-standing insurance firms in Greece.
Ethniki is now in the process of developing a sustainability strategy and targets, based on a double-materiality assessment, and has been producing sustainability reports for a number of years. CVC has helped Ethniki build a strong sustainability governance structure. Our support has included involvement with setting up a committee and with hiring a Head of Sustainability, who is further supported by Sustainability Ambassadors across functional areas, responsible for executing the sustainability strategy.
In the last year, Ethniki became a member of the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) and was awarded a gold medal on its first EcoVadis assessment, making it the first insurance company in Greece with such a rating. We have also helped the firm measure its Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions, and we are now supporting them in creating a decarbonisation strategy. Furthermore, Ethniki is building a strategy to manage the implications of the energy transition on its investment and underwriting portfolios.
